Who can enjoy a Swedish massage

As with any beauty treatment, Swedish massage may not be suitable for everyone and certain medical conditions may prevent you from this treatment, or may require your GP’s medical consent. As with all Astley Beauties Treatments a full consultation will be carried out before which enables us to ensure that a Swedish massage is right for you.

What happens during a Swedish massage treatment

To effectively give a Swedish massage you will need to remove your clothing (except underpants) and make yourself comfortable on the massage couch. There will be a large towel to cover your body. During the massage the only part of your body being worked on will be exposed, to ensure your modesty. Oil that is appropriate for you will be applied to your skin to allow free movement during the massage and will also nourish the skin. A full body massage usually treats the back, legs, abdomen, arms, chest face and neck, although this can be adapted to suit your individual requirements or preferences.

After-care advice

Swedish massage has a detoxifying effect on the body and you can encourage this by drinking plenty of water and avoiding caffeine, nicotine and alcohol for the next 24 hours. Also try to avoid any strenuous exercise for 24 hours following treatment and try to rest and allow your body to heal from within.
